The Opus: Like a Sequel to The Secret

The Secret touched on the law of attraction but it was really just scratching the surface.  It left a lot of people with questions on how to actually attract goodness into their lives.  Some people felt that it was a sham when they visualised but got nothing.

There was a crucial ingredient missing and that was the ingredient of guidance beyond the concept's introduction.  ie:  "What now?"

Don't take me wrong, The Secret is perfect in what it does -- introducing people to the law of attraction -- but we all need the next step and here it is.

The Opus talks about how to move from your vision to a plan and then into action.  It explains each step of the way in plain English we can all understand and it's done in a format that we're already familiar with.

One truth it revealed which has really inspired me into massive action is that the Universe's "purpose" is to expand.  So when we're in alignment with that by expanding ourselves and the world around us, the Universe works with us and we get whatever we need to accomplish our goals.

This has moved me from the small motivation of doing work for the monetary reward into a bigger space of doing it because it's helping the universe expand and, suddenly, the work feels more rewarding, easier to do.

Sure, it sounds kooky, but it's the truth.  Help someone out (help them expand) with the REAL intention of helping them and see how easy it is and how many other people (and things) fall into place to help you.

It all comes back to the most divine truth of all.  We are all one.  So anything I do to you, I do to me.  If I help you, I'm really helping me.  Once you understand that and live out of that truth, competition becomes meaningless and you grow because you love to grow, not because you love to win (while someone else loses).

It's why everyone loves the guy in the movie that gives up 1st place to go back and help his buddy get up.  That's real triumph.

The Movies
The Secret came out on DVD in 2006 and came into mainstream in 2007. The Opus was released in 2008 but had been in pre-production since 2005. Most people feel that had The Opus beat The Secret to marketplace the story of success may have been quite different. While both movies feature several of the same speakers and similar messages, the presentation is very different. The camps are not severely divided between the two films however, as they both offer a very different presentation.

Rhonda Byrne has never made an official statement on which film came first and neither has Douglas Vermeeren the producer of The Opus. Both films claim to stand independent one from another, although most people consider the Opus the Secret's sequel. (How intriguing it is to consider that it may actually be chronologically the other way around.)

The Books
The secret book was released in many markets at the conclusion of 2006, but saw most of it's success in 2007. The book based on The Opus is yet to be released. Some reports have suggested The Opus book will be coming out through Random house in early 2010.
